In the Paucará district of Peru, at a height of 3,400 meters, lies Huancavelica, a small village, deep in the Andes. It is one of the poorest regions of the country. Celestino and his wife Ambrosia came to Huancavelica in 2002, fleeing the violence in their home region. From his savings he bought a loom with which he started weaving blankets and shawls. By continuously looking for innovations and a strong sense of quality his workshop now has more than 50 looms, and he provides employment to ± 30 people.
´By working hard I have grown and have been able to improve myself,´ says Celestino. He now is a leading employer in Huancavelica.
